 After Super Super Super Tuesday (I've lost track), the sun is still coming up, albeit slowly. Yawn - time change is silly in the morning, but really nice at night with extra time (to rake leaves and do other yard chores - rah)
Ray chose these cacti for a splash of backyard color.  We shall see if they can survive.  We just had a week of rain - oops.

Time Marches On

Whatever on a Wednesday - hope everyone is having a good week.

Sometimes things just strike me as I'm reading. I'm a paper person and I rip out pages in the newspaper or magazine and put them in a pile to digest again.  Here are two little blips that struck me - enjoy

From Time Magazine 10/30 issue - in regards to a collision of two neutron stars 130 million years ago that just reached Earth signals recently, scientists learned a lot.  Here is one finding that amused me:

The universe is speeding.  We know the universe is expanding and a gravitational signal from a galaxy at a known distance made it possible for the first time to measure how fast: 43 miles per second per megaparsec.  Here's the line that cracked me up - That's astronomy talk for "really fast."

And here's another comment from the Time Magazine 10/30 issue from author Philip Pullman who wrote the Golden Compass and others in a series. In regards to what he wants folks to take away from his writing, " The meaning of the book is never just what the author thinks it is. It's a great mistake to rely on the author to tell you. We don't know. The meaning is only what emerges when the book and the reader meet."

This Wednesday I bring you a quote from a very intriguing writer. I read this in Time Magazine 2/12/18 issue. 

Food for thought to fill this Wednesday.  It was provocative enough for a discussion with my writer friends at a Sunday gathering.  What do you think?

Zadie Smith, literary author, has a new collection of essays, Feel Free. In one essay she writes,

      When I find myself sitting at dinner next to someone who knows just as much about novels as I do but has somehow also found the mental space to adore and be knowledgeable about opera, have strong opinions about the relative rankings of Renaissance painters, and encyclopedic knowledge of the English Civil War, of French wines - I feel an anxiety that nudges beyond the envious into the existential. How did she find the time?

We all agreed that we've been there. We think we've read quite a bit, we can speak about quite a lot, and then we are flummoxed by that person who seems to know it all.......dang. 

Inferiority complex, heck yeah!

How about you?  Have you felt so smart, and then really dumb on occasion?

 Totally random today. I sat down to write some book reviews and then said, "Nah, don't feel like it. I typed enough at work today. I'm ready to go watch Netflix." 

So, I'll give you a brief whatever glimpse of life at the Faries household.    Ray's working on this 1000 piece puzzle that I gave him for Christmas. It's a challenge!
 I've had this Emily Dickinson card for awhile. Rather than share it with someone, I decided she could hang out on my bookshelf.  Class up the joint.
 No surprise, but the Cowboys crumbled.  Still the special edition Makers Mark bottle wears its jersey proudly. Football here never, ever ends.  (truly, never, ever.....seemingly never)
my whirly-spiral hangs from the ceiling fan in our casual living room. We got it in Cozumel in December. I brought it indoors away from the winter elements.

Whatever's happening in your world on Wednesday - I hope it's a tad random. Stop and pause, take a look around, and snap a picture. You might be surprised at what lurks in the corners.

 Now we are aiming for Memorial Weekend - downhill slide to the unofficial start to summer.  Swimsuit ready, hot dogs and burgers to be bought for grilling, drinks on ice, and an eye on the weather - will we need to break out the sunscreen or umbrellas?

 Congrats to US Women's Soccer for winning the 2019 World Cup.  Quite an achievement - 2 in a row. Outstanding!!!   And the Netherlands played well....they came in second.  England won 3rd over Sweden.  All super - equal pay for the ladies, equal pay!!!
 Arlington TX Museum of Art had an exhibit of Keith Haring - Against All Odds. Interesting work . This is a pic from the mezzanine. Interesting man and perspective. Popular in the 80s. Sadly died at age 31 from AIDS.  But his art lives on.
