Another great evening at UTA - Maverick Speaker Series.  So interesting.

He's Mr. Wonderful on Shark Tank - known for tough talk, no nonsense. However, the man knows his stuff and his talk about entrepreneurship was quite fascinating.  So much is common sense, and yet to go into business and expect others to back you is nervy.  There are thousands of applications and over the years only 400 businesses have gotten the attention and dollars from the Shark Tank team.

Mr. O'Leary gave excellent examples of pitches, what went right, what can go wrong, and how a business can grow and be savvy.  He discussed and gave some essential points for success.

Quite frankly - the place I work - wrong, wrong, wrong. Yes, we make money, but we (in theory) are destined for failure sooner or later.  The owner will not delegate, delegate, delegate....and that's essential.  There's also the question of "access" - employees need to feel that concerns can be addressed and dealt with in a civilized manner. Let's just say that things are way too personal where I work.  (To be fair, I will say my boss has been very generous to me in regards to health care, and I am very grateful.   But.......I am indebted too and it could backfire on me.)

All in all, the talk was impressive and Mr. O'Leary has his hat in the ring for Prime Minister of Canada (he's a citizen of that awesome country).  Could prove quite intriguing. Stay tuned.
