Top Ten Movies Of 2015

2015 has been  a good year for this blog and for movies. The blog has reached 60000 views and this year has given many bold and interesting movies that tell and show us things that resonate with us.

The years worst movie award goes to Fantastic Four.

I made a difference for putting the list together this year. I am including films that were released this year in my country (Wales). So that means that other movie that would usually not be on the list because their initial release was last year, now qualify.

10. Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens. The awakening of the Star Wars franchise, fandom and big action movie set-pieces.

9. Legend. Gangsters have duel personalities by nature. They seek and can gain the glam and charm but to obtain it they have to commit acts of evil. Portrayed brilliantly by Tom Hardy in a duel performance this makes Legend one of the most memorable movies about the criminal empire you'll see.

8. Avengers: Age of Ultron. Possibly the biggest Superhero movie ever made thus-far. The most characters, the most obligations to set-up for the future movies and most intricate action scenes. And it doesn't feel crammed-in or forced. It is able the handle the incredible tall order that it had to fill.

7. Mr. Holmes. A realistic, honest portrait of a myth. They took the legend and gave his withering bones and thinning blood that makes him more real than he has ever been.

6. Crimson Peak. The most well made Horror film that you will see. The costumes the, themes, the characters and the sets are all magnificently constructed. This movie washed away all concept ofthe hammy or cheap horror movies.

5. Inside Out. A movie is suppose to emotionally connect to you. So when your main group of characters are emotions themselves what does that mean? Through the effort, intelligence, and artistry of Pixar it becomes one of the most entertaining, heartfelt movies about growing-up as-well as being human that you will see. Childhood is many things, and this paints the whole glorious, tragic picture with all the colors in its box.

4. Still Alice. Take away intelligence, take away characteristics, take away time, take away memories and are we still ourselves? Or if you start taking those things away how long can we still remain? This film explores and demonstrates that humble and very painful question. Put in an amazing performance from Julian Moore accompanied with solid secondary performances and you have a film that will stay with you.

3. Whiplash. It's set-up and characters are as tight as a drum. And it beats it relentlessly right up the the breaking point and keeps going until the end.

2 . Mad Max: Fury Road. Action is suppose to get the blood pumping and engross you within the scenes and care about the characters and their plights. This movie reminded me of than. It showed me something new in the action genre. And had the guts to cut-out as much C.G.I. as possible and the filmmakers really did get in their cars and go.

1. Birdman. This has been the movie I think about the most this year, the one that impressed me the most, the one I've re-watched the most. An incredibly hard concept to pull-off and they did and yet there are still all the different layers to peel back and discover within the story. The true struggles of a man that is caught between public approval and self satisfaction.

There are many movies that could have been on this list but didn't make and there are still movies that I wanted to see this year but simply didn't get around to. But that just means that 2015 is an even more impressive year for movies.
